Why read books on writing craft and publishing? Why attend writing workshops? This is why…

May 4, 2022

I could write a long blog post about why reading books on writing matters, why learning from other authors can inspire, why when I’m stuck, I turn to the words of other writers. But instead…the extremely talented @gomandco otter has said it all in these illustrations, created after attending one of my writing and publishing workshops at Avid Reader bookstore in Brisbane. (You can book in for upcoming workshops at other venues and online here).

Books on writing (and authors speaking about their writing journey/sharing tips and insights) trigger learning and light bulb moments. They help collapse the time needed to produce, progress and profit. And profit isn’t a dirty word, because if you can’t earn an income from your writing, you won’t be able to keep writing.

Thank you @gomandco for your generosity in turning thoughts into pictures, thanks for coming to the workshop and thanks for immortalising Look-It’s Your Book! with your gorgeous otter. Can’t wait to see what you do next.
