Why a professional book cover design is so important for self-publishers
I’m following my own advice! In my upcoming guide for Australian writers and self-publishers, “Look – It’s Your Book”, there’s an entire chapter about the importance of good book cover design for indie authors, as well as how your book cover is so important to your marketing effort.
So, it’s been fun the last few days sharing initial book cover design concepts for ‘Look – It’s Your Book” with my writing community, friends and family; but more importantly, the professionals: librarians and booksellers. Getting their feedback has been crucial to nailing down the design concept to further develop.
The fabulous – and difficult conundrum? The designer I’m working with on this book cover, Tess McCabe, presented three amazing initial concepts that were so hard to choose from! Everyone seemed to have a favourite and I was drawn to each one for different reasons.
Which would you pick to take to the next stage?
