The 2022-2023 Australian Society of Authors’ Guide to the Australian Book Industry is out now
Renewing your Australian Society of Authors membership before May 1st 2022 comes with a great reading bonus: The 2022-2023 Australian Society of Authors’ Guide to the Australian Book Industry. I’ve just read through the latest edition and can highly recommend it. An ASA membership has provided great value to me over the years, from learning opportunities to literary speed dating, and this resource is just another benefit of membership.
In addition to all the other great services the ASA offers for Australia’s beginning, emerging and established fiction and non-fiction authors, this comprehensive guide has a wealth of up to date and useful information for writers. I think it makes a great additional resource to Look – It’s Your Book! as it has a curated list of contacts for Australian Bookstagrammers, Australian Booktokkers and Australian literary bloggers. This information is so useful for your book marketing plans and will save you loads of research time.
The ASA’s Guide to the Australian Book Industry also has updated sections on:
- Grants for Australian writers
- Australian writing fellowships
- Australian literary prizes
- Competitions for Australian writers
- Australian publishing houses
- Australian literary agents
- Sensitivity readers who you can engage to assist with your book
- Australian book publicists
- Book review outlets
- Australian bookstores who host events
- Australian literary magazines and journals
Full membership of the Australian Society of Authors is open to authors of at least one book, while associate membership is open to writers who are just starting out.
I’ve found membership of the ASA, The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi ) – and more recently for me as I publish more books, The Small Press Network (SPN) – have provided me with great value as an Australian author and publisher. Take a look and see what you think!
FYI: I’ll be hosting an online self-publishing presentation for the ASA in August, and will share more details as they come to hand.
