Taylor Swift to self-publish Eras Tour book
Someone forgot to tell Taylor Swift that ‘self publishing is only for writers who couldn’t get a book deal.’
Taylor Swift will self-publish her 256 page ‘Eras Tour’ book, bypassing publishers, bookstores and distributors and dealing directly with Target.
Sure, she has a crack marketing team and can access the best of the best to help her design and produce it. And yes, she has a massive following and the $$$ to fund her book’s production.
She also has experience publishing her own music.
But…the fact Taylor is CHOOSING to self-publish her book – is disruptive as not many celebrities have taken this path.
It also shows Taylor knows she will get what she wants by self-publishing and like most indie authors that includes: control of the IP, creative control, a timeline to suit, and importantly, the bulk of the profits.
Don’t underestimate the message this sends to other prospective authors…and in turn, the filter down effect this may have on how self-publishing is viewed by a broader reading audience.
