How to distribute your audiobook globally…and simply
It was great to chat with audiobook marketing and distribution expert Lindsay Senior from Author’s Republic for the latest Self-Publishing with ALLi podcast. We delve into effective strategies for self-published authors aiming to distribute their audiobooks globally.
You can listen to the full conversation on your favourite podcast app or here and it’s well worth it as Lindsay offers some great ideas and insights.
There are a variety of platforms that help authors create and distribute audiobooks including Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX), Findaway Voices and Draft2Digital, but when I was creating the audiobook for my memoir Honey Farm Dreaming (narrated by Rebecca Harper), I was shocked to learn Australians can’t use ACX.
So I stumbled around on the internet until I found Author’s Republic who took care of distributing the audiobook to all the major platforms and libraries for me. It’s been trouble free since – though I do remember feeling rather overwhelmed during the initial set up!
Lindsay discusses the growth of audiobooks, pricing strategies (and what you can and can’t control), royalty shares, common audiobook production problems, audiobook narrators, translations, and audiobook marketing tips so it’s a worthwhile listen next time you’re out driving, walking or catching up on the household chores.
If you have a topic/questions you’d like me to cover about either book production or distribution, do let me know so I can cover the topic on the podcast in the months to come.
Happy writing and publishing!
Anna
