Australia’s Vibrant Independent Publishers/Small Press Network (SPN) Annual Conference is on Nov 24-26 2022

November 19, 2022

In good news for writers seeking a publishing deal, there’s a thriving independent publishing scene in Australia made up of small yet mighty publishers such as Affirm, Black Inc , Brio Books, Fremantle Press, Giramondo, Griffith Review, Hardie Grant, Puncher & Wattmann, Scribe and plenty more.

Nov 24-26, 2022, the Small Press Network (SPN), of which these publishers are just some of the members, is running the annual Independent Publishing Conference.

There will be some truly useful presentations/statistics/forecasts/workshops across the 3 days and you can attend online or in person at The Wheeler Centre in Melbourne. I loved this conference last year! So much great information on the publishing industry is presented and it opens up many opportunities for authors and publishers.

You can check out the session plan here on SPN’s Independent Publishing Conference page.

I’ll be sending live highlight ‘toots’ on Mastodon from my account @AnnaFeatherstone@aus.social if you can’t make it and want to be kept up to speed. I’ll also do a blog post wrap after the conference with some of the highlights.

In addition to being the industry conference for independent small publishers, there will also be lots of information for micro and self-publishers.

On Day 3 of #IndPubCon22 I’ll be running a workshop on publishing timelines ie: what authors need to do when to successfully bring a book to market.

If you miss my workshop though and are keen to know all the steps to take – and when – to help your book from concept to readers hands, I’m putting the finishing touches to an extensive online course for Bold Authors with all you need to know (including plenty of checklists and tips) – sign up for my newsletter to be one of the first to hear when it launches.

Happy writing and publishing!
